10th European Square Dance Convention

Amsterdam 2018

Beyond Mainstream

20th - 22nd of July 2018

wolfgang daiss

Hello from the EAASDC

EAASDC is very proud to be the hosting association of the European Convention 2018 and I’m sure that everybody will enjoy this event in the most possible way.

One of the reasons for that opinion is the utmost commitment of our member clubs from the Netherlands to organize this “European get together” and therefore they have my greatest respect and a big thank you.

Even though this will have a big impact on a successful Convention it cannot replace the input you can give as dancers to make this an unforgettable event.

I invite you all to come to Amsterdam to dance with us, have lots of fun and joy, meet old friends and make lots of new friends, according to our motto “Friendship is our greatest Reward”

Hello from the chairman

The Tulip Twirlers, Rainbow Strollers and the Motiveters wish you all a very warm welcome to the 10th European Square Dance Convention which is to be held in the Ookmeer and ALO halls on the outskirts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

It’s the first time we will organize the European Square Dance Convention in the Netherlands, thanks to the EAASDC. It is our belief that Amsterdam is the perfect place to hold this European Convention and we hope that you and all other Square- and Round Dancers from Europe (and hopefully not only Europe) will travel to Amsterdam to be a part of the European Square Dance Convention 2018. We will do our very best to make this Convention a “Once in a lifetime Experience”.

Previous news:

The pre-registration for the European Square Dance Convention in Amsterdam has closed per July 1st, 2018. It is no longer possible to register online.

You are still welcome to the European Square Dance Convention and register & pay at the registration desk at the Convention.

On Thursday evening, July 19, from 7 pm until 10 pm Grand Square – The Netherlands will host the Trail End Dance with Michael Kellogg as guest caller, together with some of the callers from the European Convention 2018.

To be clear to everybody who is coming with a Camper or Caravan:  It is prohibited in Amsterdam (and elsewhere) to sleep in your vehicle/camper/caravan when it is sitting on the public road or in a parking space. If you decide to sleep in your vehicle/camper/caravan anyway, the EC 2018 team cannot accept any responsibility for that. You may be fined by the police. The fine will cost you € 140 per person per night.

For Friday and Saturday night, we have a permit by the local council for a certain part of the EC 2018 Park that people may sleep in the campers/caravans parked there. Only when you have registered your camper/caravan beforehand and you have received a pre-registration for you camper/caravan, you may park there for those two nights. Then you may stay the night in your camper/caravan in this designated area. To stay in your vehicle/camper/caravan elsewhere during the night on the EC 2018 Park or on the public road, is not allowed.

You have to arrange something yourself for the night from Thursday till Friday. There are still Camper places available at the Camperpark N205 and Caravan or Tent places at the Gaasper Campground. For more information, take a look at the website below.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the “camping near the hall”. There were not enough places booked to cover the costs.
